Genesis and Its Afterlife
Listen to this show
Following on the success of Genesis One, the Luce Program on Scripture and the Literary Arts at Boston University has staged "Man, Woman, Serpent: Genesis and Its Afterlife," a series of readings from the second and third chapters of the Bible.
The mission of the Luce Program on Scripture and the Literary Arts at Boston University is to explore the relationship between the Jewish and Christian Bibles and the various literatures that constitute the "afterlife" of those scriptures.
This week's show featured readings from Genesis II and III, followed by selections from writers who based their work on those words and concepts. John Milton, A.E. Housman, Karl Shapiro, Mark Twain and Bob Dylan all at one time or another responded with prose or poetry to the Story of Creation.
